The first edition included several Nagovisi myths that I transcribed in the field.
As it turned out, this confused some readers, who concluded that because the myths were "real" (meaning spoken into my recorder by actual Nagovisi) so too were the stories, which nothing more than accounts my life as a fieldworker.
At one point, an anthropologist publicly wondered whether the stories were "transcribed field notes."
Here are links to the myths and folktales.
